A WALK THROUGH MGM GRAND DETROIT
A WARM WELCOME
Named "Development of the Year 2007" by the 2008 Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS), one of the "Top 10 new U.S. hotels of 2007" by Gayot and one of "53 places to visit in 2008" by The New York Times as part of the Detroit destination, MGM Grand Detroit is the city's first and only downtown hotel, gaming and entertainment destination built from the ground up. As guests arrive at MGM Grand Detroit, they are greeted by the Grand Garden, a botanical display that anchors the property at Third and Bagley. Designed by the imaginative artists renowned for holiday creations in Rockefeller Center and the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Las Vegas, the garden is a distinctive environment with dynamic lighting and flourishing plants that serves as a seasonal attraction for guests and the community. The magnificent Grand Garden pays tribute to the changing seasons four times yearly in addition to a spectacular display during the winter months to commemorate the holiday season.
MGM Grand Detroit features a private valet for hotel guests complete with heated concrete to keep snow and ice off the driveway in the winter months. A separate entrance for hotel guests is adjacent to the valet, an intentional design attribute that offers separation from the casino. Designed by Los Angeles-based design firms Laurence Lee Associates and SandDesign*, the grand marble lobby envelops patrons in a modern yet tranquil atmosphere with grandiose 20-foot ceilings; and a private "Living Room" for hotel guests to relax, wait for friends and business associates, or make reservations via the dedicated concierge. The room includes a wall-length fireplace and dramatic backlit wall adornment with a cascading fountain. Oversized ottomans, plush sofas and contemporary artwork from Michigan artist Herb Babcock complete the décor.
GUEST ROOMS AND SUITES
Committed to the well-being of guests, the hotel at MGM Grand Detroit is a completely smoke-free environment that features 400 chic and stylish guest rooms, including nine VIP suites and 56 opulent corner suites on the highest floors of the entertainment destination, delivering panoramic views of the Detroit skyline. Rooms feature contemporary interior design by acclaimed hospitality firms Laurence Lee Associates and SandDesign* along with some of the most technologically advanced amenities in the country.
Starting at 510 square feet, standard luxury guestrooms emanate a warm ambiance with chocolate, dark cranberry and lime accents. Each room features exotic Wenge furniture and modish zebra wood headboards. The oversized guestroom bathrooms, which make up nearly a quarter of total room size, boast spacious walk-in showers with double showerheads, a 15-inch plasma TV embedded in the mirror, Palisandro marble countertops, double vanity sinks, separate water closet, lighted make-up mirrors and products by H2O spa. Delivering a sensual and voyeuristic architectural element, the guestroom showers feature a "peek-a-boo" panel of opaque tangerine glass, offering a glimpse of a showering silhouette from the bedroom.
Corner Suites deliver 1,000 square feet of sophisticated luxury featuring a marble foyer, living room sitting area with wet bar and floor-to-ceiling wraparound windows for stunning 90-degree cityscape views. The Executive Corner Suites provide the convenience of a seating area, separate from the bedroom, making it ideal for informal in-room meetings, while the Luxury Corner Suites feature an open-air residential design, with an elliptical zebrawood headboard dividing the seating area from the bedroom. On the top floor of the resort, the spectacular VIP Penthouse Suites provide up to 2,225 square feet with one or two bedrooms, and boast marble floors, entertainment rooms with 50-inch plasma TVs, separate living rooms, formal dining rooms and a private kitchen where hotel chefs can prepare meals for guests. Additionally, all suites offer deep-soaking whirlpool tubs and double rain head showerheads with triple body jets.
All rooms and suites feature deluxe beds with double-sided Serta pillow-top mattresses fitted with high-thread-count bed linens and topped with fluffy pillows and luxurious comforters in custom duvets. Plush bath linens feature wraparound body towels and terrycloth spa-style bathrobes.
Advanced technological features underscore the modern but comfortable feel of the rooms and suites. When entering the room, the action of unlocking the door automatically adjusts the interior lighting to a soft, warm glow; settings can be adjusted to five levels of brightness. Telephones serve as a "Butler" with color touch-screen technology that enables guests to access property information, schedule wake-up calls, order 24-hour room service by Wolfgang Puck and connect to the Internet without picking up the phone. With the touch of a button, guests can access stock updates and airline flight status.
Additionally, an electronic button beside the door allows guests to send a communiqué directly to housekeeping with a "Do Not Disturb" message or a maid service request. Motion sensors combined with the use of electronic key locks notify housekeeping personnel when rooms are occupied to minimize guest disturbances. All rooms are appointed with a 42-inch wall-mounted plasma television and an IPOD docking station. Both wired and wireless Internet are standard in every room and business travelers utilizing laptops will appreciate power outlets stationed at tabletop height for optimum convenience.
For a more exclusive experience, guests can choose to enjoy the luxurious Concierge Level located on floor 17. For a $50 fee, guests will have access to a private lounge offering complimentary continental breakfast, evening hors d'oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages. The lounge also features a 60-inch high-definition plasma TV with premium sound system, shoe shine service and preferred seating reservations at BOURBON STEAK and SALTWATER restaurants via the dedicated concierge.

At MGM Grand Detroit, guests can indulge in a garden of earthly delights within three signature restaurants from Michael Mina and Wolfgang Puck. These celebrity-chef venues are complemented by Palette Dining Studio, an innovative all-you-can-eat dining experience; and Breeze, a quick-serve dining area, to satisfy every craving imaginable.
BOURBON STEAK Detroit
Two-time Michelin two-star winner and two-time James Beard Award-winner Michael Mina brings a new steakhouse concept to Detroit with BOURBON STEAK, featuring a classic menu, inviting bar and modern atmosphere. The menu at BOURBON STEAK celebrates a departure from the ordinary, featuring creative variations of classic steakhouse fare.
Mina's unique kitchen design allows guests to watch as their culinary creations come to life on his signature wood-burning grills, which perfect the chef's slow-poached all-natural Angus Beef, prime ribs, short ribs, short beef and short pork. Other Mina classics on the menu include Duck Fat Fries, Spinach Soufflé and Truffle Mac & Cheese. In addition to an impressive wine selection, BOURBON STEAK offers a menu of creative cocktails that pay homage to the classics while highlighting a revolving roster of fresh ingredients.
Designed by international firm SUPERPOTATO, known for its work in Las Vegas (Sensi at Bellagio), London (Zuma) and Japan (Hyatt Regency Kyoto), BOURBON STEAK is a balance of reconstituted materials - raw, industrial yet warm objects - creating a new aesthetic from the old. Fresh design elements are present throughout the restaurant and private dining room where bottles filled with olives, kiwi fruits and rosemary lend color to clean lines and matte surfaces. BOURBON STEAK seats approximately 240 guests. For special affairs, guests can reserve the private dining room, which seats up to 50 and features a retractable glass wall; the private wine room for 10 guests; and the ultra-exclusive chef's table for a party of eight or less. Hours of operation: Dinner Sunday - Thursday 5 p.m.-10 p.m. and Friday - Saturday 5 p.m.-11 p.m. For reservations, call (313) 465-1644.

SALTWATER showcases Mina's classic dishes including Lobster Pot Pie, Caviar Parfait, Tartare of Ahi Tuna and Mussel Soufflé. As with Mina's other restaurants, SALTWATER uses only the highest-quality ingredients: fresh seafood and seasonal produce. Mina's creative approach to cooking takes guests on a culinary journey of taste sensations with every visit to SALTWATER.
Mother of Pearl show plates delicately adorn each table as rich hues of blue, sparkling mosaic tiles, carved glass panels and romantic lighting create an intimate and luxurious dining room where guests are bathed in soft-focused light and surrounded by plush, sumptuous fabrics. Outside the restaurant, abstract designs of underwater creatures designed by Tony Chi and sculpted in metal by Brian Pitman intrigue passersby as they approach the massive 18,000-pound front door that marks the entry to the venue.
