$10,000 Martini Featuring a One-Carat Brilliant-Cut Diamond Ring
DETROIT – February 6, 2008 - Locals and travelers alike will flock to Motown this Valentine’s Day weekend for a little R&R – romance and relaxation – done the MGM Grand Detroit way. Featuring special room packages, decadent menus in its signature restaurants and an exceptional way to propose to the girl of one’s dreams, MGM Grand has something for everyone this Valentine’s Day.
“At MGM Grand Detroit, we pride ourselves on delivering unparalleled experiences both for holidays and every day," said John Hutar, vice president of hotel operations for MGM Grand Detroit. "This Valentine's Day, we've gone to great lengths to give our guests the ultimate romantic celebration at every level of MGM Grand Detroit, from the culinary adventures at our signature restaurants by Michael Mina and Wolfgang Puck and the relaxing indulgences at IMMERSE Spa to the luxurious accommodations in our signature guest rooms. The centerpiece of the Valentine's Day celebration is our unique $10,000 Martini with a spectacular one-carat diamond ring."
Dazzling Devotion
For the ultimate impressive proposal, MGM Grand Detroit introduces the $10,000 Martini. Comprised of Dom Perignon champagne, Stoli Elite vodka, peach puree and muddled pineapple, this sweet and seductive concoction is "garnished" with a stunning diamond ring and served on a silver tray. The round brilliant-cut diamond is more than a full carat and dazzles in an 18-karat white gold setting.
Guests are invited to celebrate their engagement and toast the evening with an accompanying bottle of Dom Perignon.
"Whether proposing a lifetime together or reaffirming a love to last a lifetime, we wanted a way for the sophisticated romantic to show the woman of his dreams how much he loves her on Valentine's Day," said Rich Schneider, vice president of food and beverage for MGM Grand Detroit.
The $10,000 Martini is available throughout all of MGM Grand Detroit's signature restaurants and nightlife venues. To make arrangements for this truly special cocktail from February 8-16, guests can contact Tracy Wilson at (313) 850-5249.
Flavors of Love
Inviting aromas, intoxicating flavors and delicious delicacies are the order of this special day as the signature restaurants inside MGM Grand Detroit prepare wonderfully indulgent menus for one evening only on February 14. Inside Michael Mina’s BOURBON STEAK, accompaniments to the mouth-watering menu include Lobster Bisque with lemon crème fraiche, Oysters Rockefeller with pernot cream and applewood smoked bacon and an all-natural 48-ounce Piedmontese Porterhouse for two.
At SALTWATER, Chef Michael Mina has prepared an extravagant five-course pre-fixe menu featuring a unique balance of complementary yet distinctive flavors and signature ingredients. To begin, diners will indulge in Michael’s Caviar Parfait with alderwood smoked salmon, shallot potato cake, chive crème fraiche and Osetra caviar. One of Chef Mina’s most widely celebrated creations with a sweet story, he created the dish for his wife on their honeymoon and it became an instant classic at his restaurants across the United States. A second course of Chilled Maine Lobster Salad with a tempura claw, kumquat glaze and black walnuts will precede an entrée of Alaskan Halibut with champagne cream, glazed turnips and trumpet mushrooms. A duet of Piedmontese Beef Roasted Strip Loin and Braised Short Rib accompanied by truffled cavatelli pasta will complete the fourth course to be followed by a tempting Bitter Sweet Chocolate Finacier with passion fruit butter and gianduja sorbet. SALTWATER’s pre-fixe Valentine’s Day menu is $105 per person. Guests may choose to add a five-course special wine pairing for an additional $55 per person.
At WOLFGANG PUCK GRILLE, special surprise additions to the menu will make hearts flutter as guests dine in the casually elegant setting designed by internationally acclaimed designer Tony Chi.
