Something For Everyone As MGM GRAND DETROIT Celebrates The New Year

DETROIT – December 05, 2007 - The new MGM Grand Detroit will celebrate 2008 with hot entertainment, delectable cuisine and a party not to be missed. Hosting the premier party of the evening will be nationally acclaimed swing band Cherry Poppin' Daddies as they bring their unique sound to the Grand Ballroom at MGM Grand Detroit from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The evening will include a private dinner during which guests can enjoy prime rib and Maine lobster complemented by even more mouth-watering choices, along with a decadent dessert table and cotton candy station. Admission also includes a champagne toast and party favors to celebrate the evening. Tickets are $200 per person and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets.
“To celebrate our first New Year’s Eve, we’re delivering an event to rival any other in the city with nationally known entertainment, gourmet cuisine and an incredible party to celebrate 2008 in style, like only MGM Grand Detroit can present,” said April Jacobs, vice president of marketing for MGM Grand Detroit.
MGM Grand Detroit also will extend the party beyond the hotel to three of its signature lounges with live entertainment to ignite excitement on the casino floor.
At INT ICE, Modern Tribe will entertain revelers from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. with their signature sound of seductive jazz rhythms and smooth R&B vocals, while local jazz vocalist Jesse Palter will ring in the New Year from 11 p.m. - 3 a.m.
At U ME DRINK, the popular center lounge in MGM Grand Detroit, guests can dance the night away to the hottest Top 40 music from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. and from 2 a.m. - 4. a.m. In between DJ sets, Detroit-favorite Dal Bouey will bring down the house with a performance from 9 p.m. - 2 a.m.
At IGNITE, guests can celebrate the New Year overlooking the city from one of several private booths or enjoy one of MGM Grand Detroit’s signature cigars or scotches in the exclusive cigar room. DJs will provide the soundtrack for a memorable evening with adult contemporary music from 9 p.m. - 4 a.m. IGNITE is located on the third floor of the complex and is accessible via elevators near AGUA.
“It will be a New Year’s Eve guests won’t forget,” promised Jacobs.
MGM Grand Detroit also will air the New Year’s countdown live from Times Square on several plasma screens throughout the facility. Complimentary party favors will be distributed to guests property-wide to help ring in the New Year at Detroit’s finest hotel and entertainment facility.
