DETROIT—MGM Grand Detroit today released details about its highly anticipated 400-room hotel and entertainment destination scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2007.
The new property will be the first and only urban gaming destination built from the ground up and has been the largest construction project currently underway in the State of Michigan.
In addition to the beautiful new hotel offerings, MGM Grand Detroit will feature dining options ranging from casual to signature restaurants designed by world-renowned chefs, lounges offering a relaxed piano style bar to a high-energy dance club, the only full-service resort spa in southeast Michigan and 30,000 square feet of meeting space.
The luxurious hotel will feature 335 guest rooms, nine rooftop VIP suites and 56 corner suites. Unique characteristics include a private entrance, a Concierge level with full-service lounge, a Lobby “Living Room” for hotel guests only, in-room dining service by Wolfgang Puck Grille, 24-hour valet and complimentary covered self-parking.
MGM Grand Detroit also will offer a full-service Meetings and Events Center capable of hosting everything from large corporate events to intimate black-tie engagements. The Grand Ballroom, with 14,000 square feet and a seating capacity of 800, will be the centerpiece of the meeting facility. It will be surrounded by a number of Salon Rooms, Executive Boardrooms and a Pre-function area. The boardrooms will feature plasma screens and wireless or hardwire high-speed Internet access. In total, MGM Grand Detroit will add 30,000 square feet of meeting space to the Detroit community.
“We’re looking forward to opening our doors later this year,” said Juliette Okotie-Eboh, MGM Grand Detroit Sr. Vice President, Community Affairs/Administration. “The new MGM Grand Detroit will be a major entertainment attraction and, with approximately 3,000 employees, making us a top 15 employer in the City of Detroit.”
