3/1/2013
Forbes Travel Guide has unveiled its 55th annual listing of 650 Five-Star and Four-Star hospitality establishments worldwide. MGM Grand Detroit, the only Michigan establishment acknowledged by Forbes for the second consecutive year, received four-star awards for its hotel and IMMERSE spa.
This is the fifth straight year that MGM Grand Detroit Hotel received four stars. Detroit’s first and only downtown hotel, gaming, and entertainment destination built from the ground up, it features 400 chic and stylish guest rooms, including nine rooftop VIP suites and 56 opulent corner suites.
The 20,000-square-foot IMMERSE spa is the only resort-style, full-service spa in southeast Michigan. With nine treatment rooms and a full menu of services, including facials, massages, manicures and pedicures, IMMERSE spa offers a total sensory experience wrapped in urban luxury, tailored to patron’s unique relaxation needs.
“What an honor it is for MGM Grand Detroit to once again be the only Michigan hotel and spa to be named to Forbes Travel Guide as a four star property,” said MGM Grand Detroit General Manager Steve Zanella. “We would not be able to earn this award year after year without our team members’ hard work and attention to detail. This award shows the pride everyone takes in the property.”
MGM Grand Detroit also features three signature restaurants, two by world-renowned Chef Wolfgang Puck and the property’s own sports pub, TAP at MGM Grand Detroit, casual dining options, a 100,000-square-foot casino, five unique lounges, and 30,000- square-feet of meeting and event space.
“We are delighted to see such outstanding commitment to service and to the traveling consumer by our 2013 award winners,” said Michael Cascone, President and Chief Operating Officer of Forbes Travel Guide. “We have four new markets represented this year with the coveted five star hotel award – Beijing, Miami, Scottsdale and Watch Hill. We are deeply proud and honored to be associated with the winners in these markets, as well as with all of our world-class hotels, restaurants and spas.”
