It is the mission of MGM Grand Detroit to strengthen communities in which we operate. With the understanding that one company cannot meet the multitude of needs each community faces, it is our priority to strengthen organizations and programs that are located where our team members live, work and care for their families. As a result, we are entrenched in the fabric of life across our area and deeply committed to our region's continued resurgence.

MGM Resorts International Volunteer of the Year

Stan Filipowski, Count Room Supervisor

To honor our outstanding team member volunteers and encourage volunteerism, MGM Resorts International has created the Volunteer of the Year Award. Each year, this prestigious award is presented to team members who have demonstrated the most outstanding commitment to community volunteering.

Our 2012 MGM Grand Detroit recipient, Stan Filipowski, logged nearly 300 VolunterMatch hours with organizations like St. Sebastian Church, the Melvindale Athletic Club and the City of Melvindale. Along with his award, Stan received a $1,000 grant to donate to the non-profit organization of his choice. Thank you Stan for your dedication to our community!

MGM Grand Detroit in the Community

Camp TCTL

Each summer, MGM Grand Detroit helps award memories of a lifetime through Camp TCTL. The Camp TCTL contest, hosted on the Touching Communities, Touching Lives Facebook page, provides funding for various Metro-Detroit camps and youth programs. This year the participating organizations were Alternatives for Girls, Camp Casey, DAPCEP, In Accord, Midnight Golf Program and West Seven Rams Youth Club.

SWEEP Week

In May, MGM Grand Detroit team members participated in a full week of volunteerism within the local community for SWEEP (Service While Enhancing Employee Passions) Week. During SWEEP Week, our team members volunteered at Playworks, The Greening of Detroit, Focus: HOPE, Forgotten Harvest and Cass Community Services. During the week our volunteers engaged in activities to help empower youth, completed beautification projects and helped package food for those in need.

At the Heart of Hunger

In the spirit of friendly competition, MGM Grand Detroit, along with sister properties Beau Rivage and Gold Strike Tunica, participated in the Regional Food Fight in February to help fight hunger in the communities we serve. Together, our three properties were able to collect more than 103,000 meals. Along with donating food, team members also helped package and sort meals.
